How to Maximize Accountability Within Your Business

One of the biggest sticking points in businesses is having a culture that promotes accountability.

Business owners dream of having a business where all staff members do what they say, and say what they do. In reality, however, this doesn’t always happen.

When a system is installed where people are able to hold themselves and others accountable for their actions, or inactions, more will get done and the business will grow.

This can be simple.

Here’s how:

Immediate Impact

When business owners ensure accountability throughout their business, they will see improvements in all areas.  Accountability makes it possible for the owner, leadership team, and staff members to be aligned to the same goal, which is to achieve their Single-Page Plan.

We assist our clients with a simple accountability tool that works.

A major part of the STUCK Breakthrough Strategies process is using the 30/60/90 [day] Must Do/Can’t Miss Board. This board contains action items for all leaders and staff to see and use as it is hung in a central area. Items can be recorded on Post-its and put on the board.

This board can also be managed electronically in our cloud-based software where the owner can access it from anywhere (including the beach). They can assign items and view the status of existing ones that their employees updated.

It can take one day to set up and implement this tool.

Sustained Results

Must Do/Can’t Miss items are continuously updated. Teams will meet to discuss the items and add additional ones that arise. Every item will have an owner and a due date assigned to ensure that they are held accountable for getting it completed on time.

Items that are not completed at the end of the current month (the “30” section) will have a red dot posted on it. This will not only mark that it is past due, but it will help the team visually see what hasn’t been done in comparison to other items.

Individuals will start to say what they will do, and do what they say when accountability is established. Your business will grow when your team is aligned and making progress toward achieving the Single-Page Plan.

As part of STUCK Breakthrough Strategies, we provide an easy way to create and manage a 30/60/90 Must Do/Can’t Miss board for all key leaders and staff to take part in, either remotely or in-person.
